As if California, with its water, salinity and drought issues will always be there the feed us. There are plenty of ways to make electricity without destroying our shrinking arable land.

While I think modern civilization will undoubtedly collapse, we’re like cockroaches - a few humans will likely survive into whatever nasty, brutish, and short existence awaits us in a severely impoverished world.

Since it’s increasingly obvious we aren’t going to stop this, why torture ourselves decrying what could and should have been done? No one else is. Knowing what’s coming, my plan is to prepare as best I can and to appreciate whatever serenity and beauty our rapidly degrading world can still offer.

Doomer here. TLDR. I'm convinced that only nature will sort this out. There are so many things we could do (but won't), and at some point we will have sufficiently degraded liveability of major swaths of the planet to the point where a sudden societal collapse and severe depopulation event occur.
