If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.

Far right activist and Trump ally Charlie Kirk was shot on stage during an event. Listen to what Eliot says, don’t look at the video. Disable autoplay - I didn’t do it fast enough and saw it. It looks really bad. There is no update on his condition so far.

When all is said and done, the people who will suffer the most are those who are systematically shoved to the margins of this society by kyriarchy.

I do not know what sort of country we will find ourselves in tomorrow or next week or next month, but from personal experience I can tell you that having to go into hiding because of the mob is awful. I imagine it's 1000x worse when the mob = regime agents.

I’m working on a piece for TB today about this week’s events and the thing I heavily keep coming back to is I genuinely do not think it ever even actually mattered in the end if the shooter was trans or not
I certainly think they would have found a way to blame us

A quick reminder: trans women, and trans people in general, remain massively underrepresented among mass shooters specifically and members of the fascist right more generally

They're openly calling to lock up every trans person by force. We need every ally to speak out forcefully against this because trans folks cannot do this on our own.

People need to understand just how openly genocidal the rhetoric on the far right is getting towards transgender people. They're openly talking about eradicating us and forcefully mass institutionalizing all trans people.

These are people with direct ties to the Trump administration.
