Extra story on top of this. One of you, I shall not say who without permission, once gave me such good feedback about something I was struggling with, I literally almost wrote a paper about it. I didn’t, but it came up in about a 100 convos and it was the most helpful thing I had heard at the time

One of my favourite Duvall performances is The Rain People. He's not in it much, & the guy could be a monster - he is, but you see the wounds that make him that way.

Duvall was a heavy-duty theatre actor (he did a lot of Tennessee Williams, including Stanley; Miller, Shaw, Mamet, etc). In Hollywood he took jobs like anyone else but he seemed to always look for (or create) work where he could apply that level of intelligence, daring, & fun.
