Lately we’ve been going to the Mexican ice cream parlor when we want Blizzardsβ€”not even for political reasons but because any shop that says β€œLa Michoacana” is probably going to be local and taste better.

SNAP is important because we severely underpay employees while fat cats get fatter. Government aid fills in the gaps. 4/4

SNAP kept their baby healthy and their family fed.

That means when you call 911 or seek psychological care, it’s possible your providers are eating thanks to β€œwelfare.” 3/4

I wasn’t sure whether to post this, but if it changes even one mind, it’s worth it.

Someone close to me was a full-time first responder with a spouse who worked full-time in crisis prevention. 1/4

An estimated 15.7 million workers use SNAP. It’s a lifeline for those in low-wage jobs.

Meanwhile, CEOs are paid 280x as much as the typical worker.

Don’t be angry at workers for using food stamps.

Be angry at the corporations paying them so little that they need them.

It’s wrong American culture both glamorizes and infantilizes mothers but does little to support them or pregnant people. Formula shouldn’t be absurdly expensive. Breastmilk banks should exist. Changing stations, high chairs, and priority parking should be guaranteed in all public spaces.

People are judgy about farmers, but they are the hardest-working members of society. My father is a college-educated, liberal-voting farmer in Kentucky. Maybe he’s an outlier. Maybe that doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, farmers are not your enemy. Bad policies and a bad administration are. 5/5

Yes, I understand modern agriculture has climate impacts. That is not the fault of individual farmers. Yes, I understand tariffs implemented by a man they may have voted for negatively affect them. But republicans pretend to show up for farmers, which the left could do more of. 4/5

2. American farmers work 80-hour weeks, sacrificing time with their families, for much less pay than a lawyer or doctor who works similar hours. This work keeps food on our tables, milk (dairy and non) in our lattes, and alcohol at our happy hours. 3/5

1. Not all farmers are republicans or Trump voters. It’s unfair to categorize them all this way. 2/5

Yes your taxes should support disabled people.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.

Dumbledore: The happiest man on earth would see himself, exactly as he is.

Harry: The mirror shows us what we want, whatever we want.

Dumbledore: It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.

Harry: …Pretty sure I just said that, professor

Remember: Undocumented immigrants pay billions of dollars in taxes every year.

They pay into government funded healthcare programs, but can't access them except in case of emergency.

Emergency Medicaid spending accounted for less than 1% of total Medicaid spending in 2023.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.
