Chicago-area journalists and protesters are suing the Trump administration, claiming ICE agents have engaged in a “pattern of extreme brutality” they say is a “concerted and ongoing effort to silence the press and civilians” outside the agency’s Broadview processing facility.

I’m so struck by this video. A regular day in Logan Square in front of a grocery store and ICE pulls up and tear gassed people. Funston Elementary School is right across the street as well. This is a major corridor in Logan Sq. No concern for human safety

There weren’t a ton of them on last week, and in same day ratings (which these are) they’re disadvantaged compared to live sports and news shows. After a week of streaming etc I’d expect to see High Potential and maybe a Law & Order climb up.

Nielsen Kicks Off Big Data Era With Revamped Weekly Ratings Reports Or, how ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!,’ a streaming NFL game and network evening newscasts joined the top 25 shows of the week.

Of interest to maybe just me and @tvmojoe.bsky.social, but Nielsen is now putting out ratings reports that aren’t segregated by daypart (prime, daytime, late nite) or cable/broadcast/live streaming. So you can see Kimmel’s return was No. 17 on all of TV last week. It’s gold for us ratings dorks.

An Immaculate Grid game show is in development from Religion of Sports (co-founded by Tom Brady and Michael Strahan), so you may one day be able to win prizes for Remembering Some Guys.

1. This is what I get for trying to be earnest on here.

2. At 19 years and 2 months, that story is older than any of the people I’ll be talking to. It would elicit blank stares, AT BEST.

Later this week I shall face my greatest* fear: Talking to a group of high schoolers who are interested in journalism. Friends in the business, what besides “don’t” would you tell the youths about covering the entertainment business?

Jimmy Kimmel Returning to Sinclair Stations as Preemption Ends Nexstar and Sinclair had opted to preempt the late night show on their ABC stations, impacting nearly one quarter of the country.

Sinclair is ending its “Jimmy Kimmel Live” blackout, and seemingly got nothing out of it. (jerry-seinfeld-thats-a-shame.gif) No word on Nexstar yet but they’ll probably start airing the show again soon too. (Story by @alexweprin.bsky.social)

Just me, or does the chant that Sam is doing in this scene also just sometimes play on a loop in y’all’s heads for a day or two as well?

This math might not be totally right given the uneven distribution of viewers in markets, but if the Nexstar & Sinclair ABC stations had aired last night’s show, the audience could’ve been about 8 million viewers (6.26M in 77% of the country extrapolated to everyone).

That 6.26 million - which might yet grow a bit when Nielsen adds the big data element of its ratings - is the most ever for a regular episode of the show. (Only a couple of special episodes after an Oscars and a Super Bowl had more)
