I had already grieved when she no longer recognized me.

When I heard my grandma had passed away, I felt her passing was complete. What was left of rejoined what was already gone.

It’s a strange feeling hearing your last grandparent, who fully succumbed to dementia, had passed away.

The person I knew & loved had been gone for years. Who was left was a person reacting with the little personality quirks that could never be erased, untethered from the memories that formed them.

The year I decide to buy Mother’s Day flower deliveries for my wife, mom, and MIL is the year SoCal experiences a 90 degree heatwave. But it’s the thought that counts!
