I was reading about Elizabeth Pepys the other day. She kept her own diary, in which she wrote about how lonely and miserable she was. But Samuel Pepys tore it up in front of her while she cried. We might have Elizabeth Pepys' diary if it wasn't for her husband. He was a terrible man.

Sounds like you have a pretty free rein to define it yourself.

Maybe no interplanetary travel till Easter? Seems more reasonable than only eating herring on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays...

It is just nonsense. Look at the history of how Fahrenheit defined his scale - it is a mess of arbitrary points, fudges and corner cutting. As for granularity - that argument is debunked by the invention of the decimal point...

Recently read Warfare State, by David Edgerton which discusses exactly this (with the figures to demonstrate the truth)

A really interesting study on pubs here. If data analysis isn't your thing, there are a few paragraphs you can skip, but stick with it. The conclusions are worth it.

Thatcherite Neoliberalism, the politics of destruction, shrinks the state and hands power to markets, but markets are not democratic institutions. They are governed by wealth. β€ŠWhen public decision-making is replaced by market discipline, voters lose power and capital gains it.

More seriously, are you allowing abstract nouns here, because respect, love and kindness are high on the list.

Really? I thought that for a proper pie you chopped the ends off the boiled eggs and lined them up...

The ones I ate as a lad were definitely made with actual eggs, as sometimes you got an end of the egg.

Members of my family are speculating about a confectionery gala pie, using marzipan for the pastry, pink marshmallow for the pork and creme eggs for the eggs.

They are debating whether the eggs get the ends chopped off before being put into the pie.

Ew.

He mentioned 'Scotch culture'. Would he mean Scots culture? Which is pretty inclusive. But he can't even name the cultures he holds up correctly, let alone define them. That bawbag needs to get in the bin.
