04.10.2025 15:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A second skein of purple and green handspun, not quite as kinky curly as the first skein.
3 skeins of handspun 2 ply, fresh out of a hot bath, hanging from a shower handle.
3 skeins of handspun hang neatly from a laundry drying rack, outside in the sun.
The second skein was also very kinky and curly, but not as much as the first. A soak in hot water seems to have made a huge difference! Drying out in the sun this morning. Definitely taking a break from merino for a while, I think I'll try some Polwarth next. ๐งถ #handspun #handspinning

04.10.2025 13:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0They were sitting for at least 2 weeks ๐ . I did give the skein a soak in hot water, currently drying. We will see what happens!
04.10.2025 00:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0An almost full bobbin of two ply handspun, in progress on the wheel.
The skein fresh off the niddy noddy. It has scrunched up in many over twisted spots.
The handspun 2ply successfully wound off onto a niddy noddy. It is variegated neon greens and purples.
๐งถ Adventures in plying continue. It looked like I had done a better job on this one than on my previous skein. At least it did on the bobbin, and the niddy noddy. Took it off the niddy noddy and damn, what the hell happened? I still have 4oz more in singles of this to ply a second bobbin. #handspun
03.10.2025 17:47 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0It's only going up to 69F today, and I LOVE IT. I have recently threatened to move to Canada just to escape the 85+F heat. GIVE ME AUTUMN!!
It's also Hocus Pocus season, so it's time for the usual October coffee mug at work.
That's my cowboy. Fuck ICE. Really is refreshing when an entertainer (or musician, or author, etc) you like turns out to be a decent person.
And I love that AEW lets their talent express their views like this.
This MF'er. The tax dollars used to gather all this military brass in one room could have fed a couple thousand school children. If you don't recognize the blatant threat in his words, you are part of the problem.

29.09.2025 11:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Freshly plied hand spun yarn wrapped up on a niddy noddy.
A close up view of the hand spun. The fiber is variegated greens, purples, and blue.
Plied up some singles last night. It's...ok? Not over spun like my last project, but it's like too much twist came out in plying? IDK. Still needs to be washed.
This was 4oz of merino top from my LYS. I think after I ply the rest of the merino singles I have I will try some BFL. ๐ค๐งถ

A finished pair of handknit socks in vintage Halloween colored self stripping yarn. A single cable runs up the side of each sock.
The beginnings of a hand knit sock, in a variegated yarn of black, purple, orange and teal. The 2x2 cuff ribbing is stretched across a white woman's hand.
One pair of Halloween socks off the needles for #FOFriday, and another Halloween pair cast on. The finished pair is in Desert Vista Dyeworks, probably my longest WIP. Started them in 2020, kept forgetting about them. The new pair is in Crochet Cove yarn from 2021. ๐๐งถ๐งฆ My stash likes to marinate.

A woman's hand holds a plyback test section of a single being spun onto an electric spinner. The fiber is a natural cream color.
Picked up an EEW6.1 and some accessories for my Ashford last month. Spent some time getting to know the EEW this week. There were hiccups when I forgot to put the back end bearing on, but it's good now. I guess I officially have a "flock" of wheels now. ๐งถ

24.09.2025 13:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Do you guys have any idea how involved a process it is to sculpt and then cast something? The This isn't a couple minutes of Banksy spray paint, it's HOURS of labor. And whoever this is, is doing it to piss off the orange clown. I love the dedication here. #art www.badchoices.us/p/bronze-sta...

UGH, mattress stitch. I love you and I hate you. ๐งถ
The body of the cardigan is done, working on seaming the shoulders tonight, then it's just sleeves and the button band.
Nice to see Pennsylvania doing something rational.
