I did find that my tolerance for violence went down after having kids, at least for awhile. It came back pretty quickly for me, but I’ve known other parents for whom that was more permanent. Really interesting question!

Aw, I'm glad! I was born in Oregon, and remember traveling back with my parents as a teen. I was enthralled with the Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood - exteriors for Kubrick's Shining!

Just finished reading @wnwagner.bsky.social's newest, Girl in the Creek - really fun read. Great sense of place, a cast of characters to care about.

In the theater for Oculus, there were two young women in the row in front of me. One of them started sobbing in terror about twenty minutes into the film and didn’t stop until it was over. After, I heard her friend say, “You wanted to see something scary.” —“I didn’t mean like that!!!”

It really is! And unpacked in such a fun and readable way.

Really enjoyed Jessa Cristin’s What’s Wrong with Men. The central conceit of treating Michael Douglas’s roles from the ‘80s and ‘90s as a single composite character who demonstrates the collapse of the patriarchy is brilliant. #booksky
