I’ve experienced many school zone road construction projects over the years. In other cities they looked very different w/ more people to direct/slow traffic, more safety cones, signs & lights to alert drivers. Also, our school crossing guard is amazing, & she should have a much safer spot to work

Not a great spot for hundreds of pedestrians to cross the street! I know construction near schools is challenging, but there are 0 additional layers of safety here.

Seriously! Every time I drive on Nolensville I am so worried when I see people crossing the street or having to walk on the shoulder. It sucks that you can’t walk to places in your own neighborhood! I know I am saying nothing new here, this is a decades old problem. It’s just gotten so bad.

I know there are many others who have worked tirelessly for Nolensville Rd safety improvements for years, including ppl who wanted Nashville to buy it from TN. Many Nashville neighbors are walking on the shoulder & dodging cars in crosswalks. It’s a freakin miracle pedestrians aren’t hit every day

I know that this section of Nolensville is only one part of a very big, busy road. Hopeful this bit will be good when it’s finished. If I win the lottery I’m buying Nolensville Rd & gifting it to Nashville with an improvement budget for sidewalks, bus lanes, safe bike lanes & bus stops with BENCHES

Also TDOT or TNDOT or whatever you are called, start treating this Nolensville RD project as if there are hundreds of children in this freaking school zone because THERE ARE.

This morning we also contended with the usual mess of traffic and construction vehicles, & also got to experience emergency vehicles a few hundred yards away, and the resulting honking & bad driving. Drivers of Nashville, get your heads right.

We also had to walk all 100+ of us including families with very young children in strollers on the shoulder of Nolensville Rd to cross the street, which is constantly littered with construction debris.

Walk to school day in a major TDOT construction zone on a road that has been terrible for years was a little too exciting! Had a pretty big car accident while the 100+ kids and adults were walking along, we had a rude driver complaining that literal children were walking across the street to school

Idk how special elections like this work in terms of polling places. I wonder how many MNPS schools will be polling places for this election. I’m in Nashville & MNPS, but not in district 7. Can’t vote in this one. What I’m saying is my kids should go to school that day, good luck everyone else!

I firmly believe in the Netherlands solution in residential areas: every crossing is a speed bump. The sidewalk does not come down to meet the road; the road goes up and over the sidewalk. If you blow out your tires doing 40 mph over them, well, slow the fuck down.

My theory about the autism/neurodivergence panic?

Yes it's rooted in transphobia and the eugenics of people on the spectrum who need assistamce with ADLs...but it's also linked to a disdain for a very vocal, hyper competent, demographic of skilled people with injustice sensitivity.

I want to stretch out on the couch and fall asleep but I’m afraid neither of my bosses will allow any incursions into their territories. If I knew where the unused dog bed was I would throw that on the floor and try to sleep on it.

I have a child with sore arms and nausea cocooned on the couch watching YouTube travel videos. Opal the dog was jealous and demanding her blanket until it became clear I will not be removing the child from the best corner spot to give it to her.

These efforts to impose some state's restrictions (when it's abortion) or lack of restrictions (when it's guns) on other states are absurd

It also feels, imo, weirdly reminiscent of slave states' efforts to impose their laws on free states by demanding that they return people who freed themselves

It kinda reminds me of 2021 when I spent hours online trying to make appointments for like 7 different family members. I knew every Walmart and Kroger and CVS in the entire state that had vaccine appointments available so my public servant sister could go get hers.

Spoke too soon. Kroger website let me schedule Covid booster appointments for the kids, but they don’t actually have the shots in stock for kids 👎🏻 I’ll try elsewhere. Was also informed that “Covid boosters are only for ppl over 65 yrs.” I know how to navigate that obstacle, but do other people?
