Absolutely - a "sandwich" in Australia would only be called that if it was on sliced bread for sure! (Unless it was an ice cream sandwich, in which two pieces of wafer are appropriate, maybe two biscuits* if you are fancy).

* not the scone type of biscuit of course ^_^

If I ever get someone in the states licensing the art to produce them in-countrt, I'll certainly shout about it here and will try to remember to tag you (or come better days when our postal services are not so fraught)

Hopefully they are gonna be thin enough that I can post one or two in a regular letter internationally – otherwise non-Australian/New Zealanders are going to have to just sit there with their nose pressed against the glass like orphans outside a bakery.

Aaaaah! I have invested in 10 different Bat designs printed on Wood that can be used as tree ornaments, or keychains, or any decoration that is pendulous! This is one of the demo proofs – I must wait to share for when the manufacturer has created the actual items.

A full herd of carousel horses + roundabout, hand carved by a collaboration of a carousel artisans, ornamented with as many of the 1500 known species of bat as they can aesthetically fit on them (& associated botanica). Visitation by appointment after any donation to bat rescue/research/education.

A little brown bat with pointy ears and a cheerful smile is perched on top of golden brown cubes of frybread. The plate the food is stacked on is based on Crown Lynn ware, a kiwi pottery. Behind the place is a parody of L &P, a local lemonade, but with the label change to read FBW in large yellow letters beneath which is fact that week and "batty good stuff 2025 quote on a red banner.

Last year I learned that the Japanese house bat is 油蝙蝠, literally "oil bat" - which inspired this years fatbatweek series to be focused on fried foods :D

With a additional shout out to @courtneymilan.com for her description of this particular food in a recent(ish) book - so tangibly written that I immediately recognised what the Taiwanese ladies were requesting for fatbatweek, despite not seen/eaten youtiao in person (yet).

A Taiwanese golden bat with Youtiao - a fried dough stick known by many other names. This species and treat was requested by some lovely Taiwanese bat researchers I met at IBRC, at least one of whom has been a fatbatweek fan for several years ❤️
