If you start talking about your story like that I don't really care if it's actually good or not. You're just too full of yourself either way.

Stuff that's pure shock value doesn't really bother me either, so I guess what does bothers me is just this attitude of "Ooh, you're a stupid baby who can't handle anything REAL huh? Check this shit out! It's got problematic relationships!" It so annoying.

I like a heart-wrenching story as much as the next gal, but there's a difference between having a story with heavy stuff in it and making something actually meaningful.

Low-key I get kinda pissed off when people brag about their story for their novel/movie/game being super emotionally challenging and "not some coddling comfort slop" or whatever. it just comes off like they think their story is automatically better for trying to tackle heavier themes/emotions.

Even if the Deltarune characters were conceptualized before Undertale, it's possible that Kris's character was partially made as a commentary on the player and Frisk's relationship.

The game seems to imply that it's the case given that Flowey and Chara both make the distinction between Frisk and the player. It doesn't seem like the implications of that were particularly thought out, since the game doesn't really comment on Frisk's thoughts or feeling at all.
