Render of three low-poly cacti (a spiny barrel cactus with a flower, a squat blueish one, and some kind of opuntia with a fruit). The textures are clean with N64-style filtering.

Same cacti as before, but with much higher resolution (though still small) textures. Detail on the spines & flower of the barrel cactus is much more visible.

Maybe you’ve heard: every font is free! Since fonts aren’t subject to copyright, you can legally ‘pirate’ them if you use a specific loophole!

I’m aware of the history of MM/GX/etc, just disagreeing with the premise that “a single master cannot serve as a typeface” — they might often be limited in practicality, but single-master/single-font typefaces are common (just as single-size designs existed in the metal type era)

With metal type and early bitmap fonts, ‘one set of parameters = one font’ was a safe rule, but as soon as we switched to scalable vectors it’s been possible to produce multiple parameter configs from a single font

This isn’t an up-to-date definition, as far as I’m aware. The typeface is the thing you see; the font has always referred to the method of delivery (metal sorts, in a specific size and style; an OTF in one style with dynamic resizing; a variable font with optical size and other axes)
