While the Trump administration is denying emergency funds for weather-rated disasters, they're simultaneously taking $608M from FEMA to divvy out via state grants for the construction of internment camps.

The full article is here. I have been warning about this issue for months. The irony is that the Trump admin is effectively "defunding" half a dozen major federal law enforcement agencies so they can ramp up migrant arrests, including many diligently following the rules.

Why is the administration trying to get rid of Head Start?

Because it challenges their narrative of waste, fraud, and abuse. And because it gets in the way of their efforts to trap people in precarity and make them easier to exploit.

I spent a decade studying kids' help-seeking. So, I can tell you that if a child asks their teacher to call them something other than what's on file, it's because that child fundamentally trusts that teacher. And, I'm appalled that a teacher would be fired for inspiring that kind of trust.
