My recommendation is organizing progressives in order to build big tent coalitions, creating positive alternatives. I think shame as a political tool has proven largely counter productive, usually benefiting the right. Focus should be on political reforms (which should include wealth redistribution)

Maybe. In which case we need a term for the practice. Today it is rewarded, by the algorithm, but weirdly also by many progressives. It should be the discouraged, since it's a practice counterproductive to change, only benefiting the ego of the performer who gets clout.

We need a term for people who use performative outrage to gain clout on social media. It's an absolutely toxic thing for our discourse, but due to the algorithms its still widely exercised by pundits of all political stripes.

Seems like a good idea to have some experienced people work on delivering this aid. Maybe they could be organized as a government agency? We could call it USAID.

I think most policy wonks grossly overestimate how much the average person pays attention to politics, and in particular international politics.

If the EU have to grovel right now to keep Ukraine supplied it may be a price we have to accept. When the war with Russia enters a less acute phase however, I hope the EU asserts itself and throws this deal in the bin.

Hard to say what is a good deal for those of us that weren't in the room. The deal looks embarrassing for the EU. But given the geopolitical situation, the US holds escalation dominance since we need them to protect Ukraine.

I think many of the reforms towards a more neoliberal/managerial state has been driven by the goal of increased growth, which voters consistently have shown is something they value highly.
