Ukraine kept asking for help until Ukraine was asked to help ❤️‍🩹

The EU and NATO used to debate if they should defend Ukrainian territory or not. Now the they are debating if they should defend their own territory or not.

You’re right. Some of the worst queues I’ve seen in Ukraine would be about one kilometre long.
But it may also be due to gas stations quickly introducing real time notifications via mobile apps about fuel availability, and customers quickly reduced consumption and avoided queuing if possible.

The Ukrainians have made impressive strides in drone warfare, and are arguably the world leader at this point.They'd make excellent advisers/designers/implementers for this project if Europe moves ahead with it.

Will this prompt Russian citizens to protest against Russian war in Ukraine? Of course not.

This is me queuing for gas in Kyiv in 2022 after Russian attacks. 2025, the tables turned.

One time recently I heard a drone overhead and rushed to a nearest wall leaving the empty baby stroller in the middle of the street. Another time I heard anti aircraft explosions and went to the nearest cellar of a high rise building.
That’s what Russia did to Ukrainians.

I noticed I use situational awareness when I take my dog and baby for a walk. I choose routes that give me quick access to a simple shelter in case Russia attacks us from air mid walk.

I hear Ukrainian soldiers comparing the war in 2022 and 2025, and they say that technologically, it’s already two different wars.

Imagine how much experience they could share.

Ukraine has been asking NATO for help so long that one day Ukraine sent its troops to help NATO.

I can’t tell you how proud I am to see Ukrainian troops teaching Denmark drone defence.

I can’t tell you how much it hurts because I know the price Ukraine is paying.

Thanks for support, it means a lot! I’ve been through too much nonsense since 2014 when Ukrainians said Russia was in this war for long, for serious and with Europe-wide ambitions… and the West led by Obama and Merkel just dismissed us.

It’s been forever since I saw civilian drones in Ukraine, I see Russian-Iranian Shahed drones all the time. They make this nasty high pitch sound and come in swarms. When Ukrainian anti aircraft shoots them down they fire concentrated bursts from multiple weapons. And this is just my life in Kyiv.

Denmark is such a small state, yet so brave with providing Ukraine as much military aid as it can. Hope Europe stands by Denmark in the light of new Russian provocations.

It’s remarkable you didn’t mention which drones, of which country. “Some mysterious drones flying over Denmark for an unknown reason”. As a Ukrainian, I truly hope European leadership starts taking Russian threat seriously and calling it by its name.

I paused, took off warm sweaters of the baby, of the dog, and sat there waiting for the attack to be over. In 15 minutes, the app said the drones flew passing by. I got us all dressed again, and we went for a walk. For a short while, normal life resumed.

I dressed myself, dressed the baby, dressed the dog. Set to go for an evening walk suddenly, I heard explosions outside. I checked the app that monitors Russian air attacks. Several drones were flying above Kyiv, Ukrainian anti aircraft was trying to shoot them down.

Denmark gets it. The Baltic states get it. Writing this from Ukraine after another night of Shahed drones swarming the skies in hundreds.
Hundreds.
I mean, if Europe doesn’t take action now, they may need to consult Ukrainian civilians how to survive such attacks.

Writing from Kyiv having survived another combined aerial attack. I hope no one in Europe gets to learn the feeling of a flying and falling Shahed drone nearby. But in case you do, we freaking warned you: Russia started with Ukraine and will continue until stopped.

I live in a five storey apartment block in Solomyansky district of Kyiv. Just like the one Russia destroyed today.

Every time I survive a massive Russian attack I get the feeling: next time it’s gotta be us.

I came there in 2017 to report on the impact the war was having on the coal mining industry. It was a quiet small town of incredibly hardworking people whose lives were dictated by their jobs.
