The russian drones attacked railway infrastructure in the Sumy region. The carriage which Ukrzaliznytsia kindly put specifically to warm people up and save from freezing was also destroyed. It's -10/-17°C in Sumy today.

Last year my wife and I donated 6% of our retirement income to dignitas.fund and United24. It felt like the least we could do, given the suffering of the brave Ukrainian people who are fighting, not just for themselves, but for everyone who values democracy.

The so-called russian "energy ceasefire" means bombing of other civilian facilities, like this maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia. Six people were injured, among them two pregnant women that came for the examination.

I think Westerners tend to forget (or never knew) that Ukraine's anti-colonial struggle didn't begin in 1990, or 2014, or 2022. It has been going on for centuries.

They chose dignity over surrender. Their sacrifice became a symbol of Ukrainian courage to defend our sovereignty — and a reminder that freedom is never given, it is defended.

Today we honour the Heroes of Kruty — young Ukrainians who stood against a vastly larger russian force in 1918 to defend Ukraine's independence.

By holding back the enemy advance, they bought crucial time for the Ukrainian People's Republic to sign the Peace of Brest and secure intl recognition.

The Klochkovi couple tried to escape the occupied village of Hrabovske. They managed to travel 7km — before russians hunted them down and killed them.
