What I don't understand is: why didn't they use a VPN to appear American? It's cheap and easy. I guess it costs a little bit of config time, but if you're a governmental grey ops kinda deal, that's easy to roll out. Were they thinking that this would _never_ be a feature?

Then they stopped. I asked why. The woman, who identified herself as the manager, said that they'd laid off all their employees that didn't have their own car, so they had no need of the ebike anymore. I'm not sure that's even legal, but, uh, that's when my affection for that branch ended.
