Revisiting Michael Conforto's career and his .412 BABIP in 2020 From 2017-2020, Michael Conforto was one of the most productive Mets.

Maybe the shoulder injury ruined Conforto. Or perhaps what we saw was a somewhat normal decline from the 122 OPS+ in 2018 and 127 OPS+ in 2019 that Conforto produced without an inflated BABIP.

As stated in the article, this is more of a think piece than an actual proposal. CBP would be a better park for Nimmo and having his contract end a year earlier makes this an interesting idea.

Stearns is much-more likely to give the 3-year deal it will likely take to get Schwarber than the 5-plus it will take to get Alonso.

I'm very glad that you read the article and I'm happy to talk about the Mets. But you haven't said one thing that either refutes the article's premise or that I didn't know before I wrote the piece.

So long as you ignore the 2024 injuries to:

Peterson, Senga, Kranick, Reid-Foley, Megill, Smith, Diaz, Raley, Garrett, Nunez, Blackburn and Scott. Even if you limit to SP, there's still 5 of them and they all missed significant time. See the '25 Phils if you want to see a team with good luck.

If you're only going to consider pitchers who've never been injured, you're going to have a very small pool from which to choose. Montas had been healthy in 3 of his previous 4 years and Senga was very durable while in Japan and pitched a full year in 2023.

How the Mets' massive pitching injuries and under-performance led to Nolan McLean A top-heavy starting rotation led the 2024 Mets to receive 892.2 IP from their starters, good for fifth in the majors.

McLean is 4-1 with a 1.27 ERA. He’s got a 3.29 K/BB ratio, with 46 Ks in 42.2 IP. McLean has a 1.4 fWAR and a 2.1 rWAR, his rWAR is higher due to the use of runs allowed as the base pitching input, compared to fWAR using FIP.

The move for which David Stearns never receives criticism David Stearns comes under a lot of scrutiny for his moves that didn’t work out, which is certainly understandable given the team’s slide since the middle of June.

Siri can’t hit. He had one unsustainable six-week hot streak in 2023, where he hit 13 HR in 130 PA and had a .908 OPS. But from July 1, 2023 thru the end of last season, Siri had a .194/.252/.384 line in 622 PA.

Juan Soto and looking for reasons to be upset Since the beginning of August, Juan Soto has 12 HR and 12 SB, giving him 37 homers and 27 steals on the season.

Actual results – Soto has a 4.71 WPA, the best mark on the Mets and well above Pete Alonso’s 3.38 WPA, the second-best mark on the team. Also, RE24, with Soto having a 46.71 mark compared to Alonso’s 25.34 in the category.

Oh, man, it sure has been weird. The Mets could win the World Series or they could fail to make the playoffs and neither one would surprise me at this point.

I'm just a guy who watches the games and looks at the stats.

Manaea appeared in 6 games in the minors and made 5 starts. He's appeared in 9 games in the majors and made 8 starts. That's 13 starts - more than enough to be able to consistently go deep into games. He's just not doing that.

It might have been reasonable speculation to say that Holmes was gassed in July but he's been much better in August. The Mets have been extremely consistent with their messaging, saying that Holmes is recovering fine from his starts.
