It looks like my spins do now after only a few months of learning. Which tells me that you'll get there, you just need some practice. It's really pretty though, and I think it will end up being a great yarn in the end!

This is the finished yarn from the stormy sky spin I posted the other day. It's superwash merino wool, a little over 200 yards aran weight, and fluffed up beautifully in the bloom.

My husband bought me a loom for Christmas so I'd have more options for using my handspun yarns. I've been practicing with some of my purchased stash to learn the basics, because my wools are too precious to waste. 😅

Someone said this spin looks like a stormy sky, and honestly it's how I'm feeling. I'm trying to inject brightness in my disposition, but it's overshadowed by the gloom of winter and an authoritarian regime. I must find the strength to crawl out of the pit of despair, and resist.

This was my first time playing with fluorescent dyes, and it was a struggle! The colors moved unexpectedly in the dye bath, and got a little muddy, but the spin mostly balanced it out into a lovely gradient yarn.

Had to take a break from posting so that I didn't accidentally spoil any Christmas presents, but now everything has been gifted so I'm free!

I was gifted a bin of yarn on Thanksgiving, but it's all lace and fingerling weight, which I don't ever use. So, I decided to see if I could ply it again and make it into something I will actually use.

I love the colorway of this yarn so much! It's a long gradient that goes from blue on one end to green on the other. However, this is not my most consistent spin. 😟 It goes from a lace weight to a worsted, but it's yarn, and it will make something pretty! #handspinning #fiberart #spinningyarn

Finished this last week, but was feeling too lazy to take a picture. It's 100% Corridale wool, measuring at 204 yards of 2 ply sport weight(ish) yarn. I really do love these colors, they just make me happy.

It's official; I am filled with regret.
It's going to be a schlubby art yarn, no matter how hard I try to make it anything else. So I'm spinning it chunky, just to get it over with faster.
Hopefully it will still be pretty when it's done. 😓

On to the next project! This yarn will be a Merino/Dorset/Lama wool blend that I'll dye after it's been spun. The Dorset has a short staple length, so hopefully the lama will balance it out in the spin. If not, I'll be filled with regret very soon... wish me luck!

I was trying something new when I dyed the roving and messed it up, but after seeing the finished yarn, the colors were just perfect. I just wish I could say it was intentional. 😅

I love this yarn so much! It's not the most consistent I've spun, but the colors create such a cool effect. Up close you see all the colors, but far away it's a variegated purple.

My singles are finished! They get to rest for a bit, but then I should be able to ply and set the yarn in a day or two. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished!

-local Buy Nothing and swap groups
-local theater departments
-fiber festivals and fairs
