Imagine if I opened up to a classroom scene in That Series and treated it as if I were part of an admin team evaluating the various professors with Marzano.

A large chunk of the subgenre is populated by teachers who clearly never had to write an actual lesson plan or have yearly evaluations, and it shows.

Started reading The Incandescent, and as someone who works in a high school, I am hooked.

At my undergraduate college, there was this delightful little cafe in the science center. They served an amazing drink called hot spiced chaider, which was chai mixed with apple cider.

Every time, I’ve tried to recreate it, the cider has curdled the chai.

My major required that all classes taken as requirements for the major must be pass-fail and there was a form professors also filled out for us on our academic progress through the semester. It freed us to take risks academically and grow as whole people.

Note that we are not on SNAP. But I do the shopping and can say that here in Oklahoma that buys about 2 weeks of decent groceries, 3 of sparse groceries, and prices here are cheap.

I have a small household of four people. $4200 comes to $350 a month. Under Trump grocery prices, that doesn’t go very far.
