Hopelessness comes from two places, powerlessness and isolation. We are, admittedly, somewhat powerless. But we do not stand alone!

Citizenship isn’t the qualifier the right seems to think it is. I’m still a US citizen even though I’ve spent the last 17 years smearing America here in Europe. My blood runs Russian. My home’s in Switzerland.

But they still accept me, not because I’m a “true American”. But because I’m white.

Truth Decay – Appeal to Humanity Luddites is a term that is thrown around a lot by AI advocates with respect to people who are against or refrain from using AI.

I think just as with any product it depends on the target demographic.

I find people defending the use of AI largely avoid arguments and actual debate because to argue in favour of genAI is often to make a case for it in a vacuum.

Their points are often intuitive whereas the nuance is often not. Rather than reply to questions in good faith, they stick with their gut.

I don’t necessarily agree but I would be lying if I said I didn’t see where you’re coming from. You’re definitely not wrong, the word is charged with the same spiteful hatred that slurs are, and I can imagine some people sublimate as anti-AI for a license to do so. Fair enough!!
