During the first 10 weeks of repair, there will be no vehicle access through the site from 8.30am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5.30pm.

School buses will be allowed through in the morning before the works start, and in the afternoon students will be walked through the site while works are halted.

There are also plans for several local trips before heading back in the afternoon.

Currently, the trip is in the planning phase, with final approval pending from KiwiRail.

GVR are hoping to run the trip on May 2.
