This morning my ChatGPT quota was inexplicably exhausted.
It took a while but I pieced it together. Voice mode somehow got activated when I went to bed.
The bot then engaged in a 10 hour conversation with my snoring dog, answering questions the pup wasnโt asking and praising him for his insight.

The teeny tiny No Kings things in very red areas are so huge
Say like five or six people show up. None of them knew each other before. Suddenly theyโre all friends. And maybe from that you get a group that does longer-term organizing that can punch *way* above its weight considering where it is

An infographic with the title โFACT: Lead is toxic.โ It explains that lead is harmful to everyone and damages the reproductive system, kidneys, liver, blood, and brain. It shows three groups affected:
Young children: most vulnerable because their nervous systems are still developing; they absorb 4โ5 times more lead than adults, which can cause intellectual disability, poor school performance, and behavioural issues.
Adults: lead exposure increases the risk of ischemic heart disease and stroke.
Pregnant women: lead exposure damages many organs and affects the developing fetus.
International #LeadPoisoning Prevention Week starts today.
Leaded fuel was banned around the world in 2021.
But lead can still be found in paint used in:

Though Israel and its allies have derided Palestinian resistance groups for holding hostages in Gaza, Israel itself is holding thousands of Palestinian hostages, both dead and alive, in its own prisons.
At least 250 Palestinian bodies have not been returned to their families.

Open educational resources should be central to the public mission of universities - Impact of Social Sciences
Why open educational resources should form a central part of university strategies for public engagement.
"In many universities, conversations about openness still revolve around research outputs: journal articles, monographs, and data. But if weโre serious about knowledge equity, then teaching content has to be part of that conversation too"

To be clear, the problem is not the tool (Citation Chaser or Lens.org, where Citation Chaser gets its metadata from). The problem is the publishers that are withholding and preventing the abstracts from being openly available.
And the impact in this case, is on screening at the title-abstract level

Can ChatGPT help science writers?
Some people think ChatGPT has a place writing things like news briefs, stuff written to a specific style and tone and, y'know, kinda boring.
So Science did a study.
ChatGPT failed.
Why? It got stuff wrong. "Also, extensive editing for hyperbole was needed." www.science.org/content/blog...

Sociologist Nathan Kalman-Lamb, based in Fredericton, said he was required to hand over his phone during a recent trip to a conference in South Carolina.
"He claimed that it was just going to be a very cursory search," Kalman-Lamb said, explaining the officer's actions are legal.
"But the document that he gave me said they reserve the right to copy all the contents of your phone and distribute them to every American military and intelligence agency."

U.S. taxpayers have spent $24 billion on Netanyahu's horrific war in Gaza. Instead of starving children, that money could pay for:

500,000 low-income kids receiving health care
500,000 veterans receiving VA care
600,000 kids in Head Start
Combined.
