Wrt to the that lecture and the text that has 13a as its footnote... I have been thinking for some Time about a 'What esoterocism studies can learn from fascism studies' article, since the methods of fascism studies scholars explicitly do not allow for any of the blurred lines to occur [...]

But I think now the field is diverse enough and well established to bring many other methods and perspectives into the fold, although a sober look at its development and entanglements is a good thing to entertain responsibly and in the spirit of academic enquiry.

I do agree w/ Mark that correlation between Hanegraaf and Hakl's perspectives does not mean collusion/shared ideologies. Rather Wouter's perspective meant more 'radical' approaches were excluded from the construction of the field in the 00s, so naturally what remains tilts towards conservatism.
