My dissertation could not have been produced by an LLM. I guess it could now, because I already wrote it, but what’s the point of reproducing someone else’s work but with the citations all messed up?

Doesn't Bernard Rose have that new King Lear film coming out soon? I really hope it involves Candyman.

Anna is (wrong about Darcy but) right about this. We love creative adaptations that show they get the original. That's not what this is.

I see your point, Kate (and ditto geometry, but love calculus!), but my take is that we should also allow for the pleasures of math. The "I'm not good at math" crap starts very young with girls, and I suspect a lot of it comes down to their belief that math can't and won't be pleasurable.

Pro tip: Sense and Sensibility is always longer than you remember it being, for some reason

I think so too. Fun fact: Holmes, the author, also wrote Escape (the PiΓ±a Colada song).

I hope you read it -- really want to hear what you think. Susan Vernon is deeply horrible and I love her so much.

Have you seen the musical? It has some bangers.

Fair enough. But the epistolary form of LS makes an interesting contrast for that tableau. Maybe both, if you're not going to do all of NA but just the "yes, novels" piece?

Those are interesting, but for undergrads who aren't already Janeites, asking them to put the work in with an unfinished novelette is a heavy lift. Lady Susan is finished and it's brat.

Also Love and Friendship is a totally decent adaptation.

Oh you must! It's so short and funny and bitchy. It's always a winner when I teach it.

The other night on Jeopardy, two players were tied going into final. The woman in third made a small wager and her answer was, "I hope they both bet everything." They both did, all three got it wrong, and she won. As if that wasn't already hilarious enough, turns out it was all a master plan!
