All the little weasels who came out of the woodwork to snivel about how I'm problematic and "make it impossible for cis people to safely support trans people" can kiss my ass. Assimilationist losers.

While the bulk of my collection is death metal I do have 6 whole tech thrash albums on CD.

It probably is, I hate vague posts but it upset me to see that chain of action out of someone.

I get it it's fun to be a little character on the internet, it's even fun to be a little mean on the internet. But, please don't be so catty and main-character-syndromed that you need to be a cunt to someone and then run to your fanbase to vaguely put them down.

Damn this is cool, why is @fiadh.bsky.social involved with every other cool metal album I stumble across.

A lot of those 80s and 90s thrash albums have "bad" clean vocals that are contextually appreciated, like they're able to seen true because they're iconoclastic and old. But do those same styles today in heavy underground metal and you'd probably get more negative feedback.

I don't think growls lack emotions, I agree with you that they're better at some stuff than cleans. I'm saying in metal in its current state harsh vocals are a safer place to explore vocals given that most of the genre is used to them now and you don't worry about pitch and clarity as much.

About 5ish years ago his partners came out about abuse and had pretty damning video evidence of it. He really really down played it all called her crazy and pretended it never happened. I did like their last album but him doing that forever soured his music.

I do like Cryptic Shift and Dissimulator though, while being very tech thrash to me it's not "Techno Thrash" without some fair amount of non-growls. Vocals to me matter a fair amount in what is being conveyed emotionally in the music. To me there's a lot of safety in growls not present in cleans.

Voivod got to have a nice rich career and are overall the kings of tech thrash.

I love Coroner and even got to see them once.

I don't like Vektor because 1 the main guy is a POS and 2 they've got death metal vocals and ultimately are more a death metal band than a thrash band to me.

When I was getting into metal in highschool, I was trawling RYM and YouTube "best X genre bands" videos for tech thrash. I ended up finding a lot of bands that way and Watchtower was one of my favorites among them. "Techno thrash" as it was branded in its heyday remains my favorite corner of metal.

If you want a more modern band that has perfected prog metal with a large and consistent discography that is anti-wank prog, please check out Hammers of Misfortune. This is true steel prog metal.

I feel this, prog metal that draws from the Dream Theater tree feels so hollow. It feels like it's all in service of showing off how talented the band is.

I crave that wild prog sound that was present in tech thrash and Fates Warning inspired bands. It feels like the prog is part of the heaviness.

Lush as hell progressive black metal. I love vocal harmonies and this album is full of them. The production is so clean you could eat off it. Seriously great work @amiintrouble.bsky.social

If I had a nickel for every weird black metal about a bunch of colors, I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it's funny it's happened twice. The first album im referring to is the Painter's Pallette by Ephel Duath but the new one is the new Am I in Trouble album. A beautiful masterful album. ⬇️⬇️

Listening to one of the most important metal albums of my life.

It's the apex of extremity without falling into extreme metal.

I love how this band sounds like their name. Meaty and suffocating death metal that came out a few years ago. The production is weird in a way I like and gives it this bizarre atmosphere you only get in Ulcerate-esque bands. Great vocals too.

This is exactly what I thought going into The Yearning. I just went for those falsettos and threw in every detail I wanted in a metal album. The whole thing is cringe, vulnerable, full of me going for it when I probably shouldn't. But in the end people really resonated with that cool weird shit.
