For what it’s worth, I agree. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans should be the floor. But especially for those of us who are the most vulnerable.

Anyone beside me notice that Sanders used to decry the “millionahs and billionahs” but after emerging from his presidential run as a millionaire, he only now complains of billionaires?

I think we need to be careful to weed out the narcissists who talk a good game from people who support legitimate progressive change. Is is dispiriting to see so many progressives endorsing misogynists like Sanders and transphobes like Newsom.

We don’t see it with traditional religions because the monetization occurred millennia ago.

As far as I know, people use metaphors to get a handle on things they can’t possibly understand. Otherwise, we can’t talk about them at all. When someone thinks of a way to profit from a metaphor, that becomes a religion. We see that process clearly with Mormonism and Scientology.

When we talked about defunding the police, we had stuff like this in mind.

Zionism is the support of the state of Israel as the last refuge for persecuted Jews. It is built into the Jewish religion as Mecca is for Muslims. Zionism is not the support for Israeli policies right or wrong. Conflating the two is deeply offensive.

I was trying make a distinction betw. the way Israel is criticized for its genocide vs how the US is criticized and how the responsibility is placed on all Jews.

As a Jew, I take issue with what you say. Israel has become a rogue state, like the US. In both countries, the extent of the resistance has been suppressed in media. To condemn Israel’s policies is not antisemitic. But to say it has those policies BECAUSE it is Jewish is antisemitic.

I agree we need a plan. There aren’t enough agents to cover the vast majority of polling places, so it should be possible to contain them where they show up (if they do). Meanwhile, we need to resist intimidation attempts.

This is nothing new. They tried to stop black voters this way and it failed. Just vote and fuck ICE.
