I feel a smidge of AOM FOMO, but I’m going to use this would-be conference time to finish up my teaching prep early. Hope all in Denmark have safe travels!

Air travel recently has been nightmarish. Every flight is delayed for some odd reason, and I’m running out of new music to keep me sane.

I packed my entire bag for SIOP before checking the weather and becoming painfully aware that it is still winter/early spring in places that are not Texas.

I took the entirety of spring break off this year (my mom is turning 60 so my entire immediate family, plus my spouse who is still long distance, went to Sedona). Did I miss stuff? Yes. Am I behind and owe things to people? Yes. Did the sky fall? No. Do I feel like a brand new person? 100%

I left my laptop at home to travel for spring break, and the separation anxiety is real but the desert dissociation is necessary 🧘🏻‍♂️

I’m now reading the second edition of “How to write a lot” by Silva, and am tearing through it. Any suggestions on books for my queue? They don’t have to be academic, but I normally listen on Spotify!

During my long runs this year, I’ve started listening to audiobooks. My first book of the year was “Maternal Optimism” by @jladge.bsky.social and Danna Greenberg (a book I’ve been so ready to read for a long time; and very much enjoyed)!

I read Steven Rogelburgs “glad we met” over the break which may be helpful also. It’s all about maximizing 1:1 meetings - something I’ve always really struggled with in terms of balancing efficiency and camaraderie.

I want to compile a comprehensive list of research funding opportunities for our PhD students in HRM/Labor Relations as part of a doc seminar I'm teaching. I'd love to tap the community here to make sure I cover all my bases. Please share any that you know of. I'm happy to post the final list.

Why are there so many January deadlines

I’m at the point of my self-imposed off time where I’m having stress dreams about my inbox and manuscripts. Merry merry!!!

Most excited that my first year doc student had a poster accepted for our work on political differences across organizational levels. Can’t wait for Denver!

100000% it’s such a subjective process, and the 750 character limit for reviews left most of them pretty bare bones.

Happy SIOP decision day! Good luck to all - I wish I could see all my coauthored submissions in my own portal, but that just means more (hopefully good news) emails from academic friends on the horizon!

Final grades are submitted, research is researching, and my spouse is moving to Dallas with me in 6 months after 5 years of long distance. Things are good. Thats all!

One of my 10%s today was reading some really cool articles about sensemaking at work and then signaling as a sensemaking mechanism. Yay theory!!

Does working on 10% of 10 things equate to a 100% productivity work day? Asking for me (and my inability to focus on one thing for more than an hour all day today)

This part!!! Particularly for communities that no one from the research teams belongs to. Why not involve participants in research that’s about them!
