β€œYou know it’s wrong so please move along!” Children and parents at Windmill Primary School and Headington Nursery School staged a protest this morning against inconsiderate and dangerous driving outside school. They cite the volume of cars coming off the ring road and cutting through these streets.

Hello Anneliese

When you mention e-bikes, are you meaning illegal e-motorbikes? I.e. ones that go over 15.5mph?

It’s an important distinction as e-bikes are a fantastic opportunity to engage a wide range of people in active travel.

Whereas illegal e-motorbikes are a scourge.

Big cars: Are they a good or bad thing? In December Cardiff became the first UK council to introduce higher parking charges for heavier vehicles - but is it fair? Ricky has been looking into the issue.

πŸ“£ We were on BBC's Newsround this week!

πŸ™ƒ The children's news show ran a story on #carspreading with Solve the School Run and it's honestly one of the best SUV explainers we've seen!

It’s not quite the gotcha they think it is.

The same thing happens here in Oxford, UK. There are snarky comments about cycling dropping in winter. Yet, it continues.

In summer it is lovely to be rejoined by those who prefer fair weather for cycling.

Yes, I get your point. The cause of leaf debris on cycle tracks is also exacerbated by their side position by trees/bushes. However neglecting to sweep them up is where the priority of local authorities is exposed. The phenomenon is predictable & the consequences are nasty for cyclists & pedestrians

A two lane road leading is shown. It is clear of leaves. A major bicycle lane is shown next to it covered in Autumn leaves. The leaf-covered bicycle lane extends to a distant vanishing point.

Hand workers often suffer stigmatising attitudes, immature sniggering and innuendo.

Of course the government should pull this off for them.

Great letter Andrew! Clear, comprehensive, taking no nonsense!

It is great to see how you lay out the positive case for change.

It is great to see leadership like this in politics. Taking a principled and evidence-based stance, then explaining it. More strength to you.

Yes, I still play guitar. But it’s bass more often these days, which I love just as much.

I saw Robin recently when the Infinite Monkey Cage came this way with Tim Peak

Thanks Anneliese
I hope that the council will listen to local people too. I’m aware of many people who desperately hope for less congestion, safer roads, more efficient buses, and for these reasons I have responded to the council’s consultation with strong support for the plans.

Greater cycling access and car free city centres are often presented as β€˜controversial’ by media and politicians.

But approval of such initiatives is often underestimated.

When Oxford residents are informed and consulted, approval rates are high:
