I’m Jewish. I don’t normally post about this. But I’m tired and I’m sad.

I’m not religious. My more religious relatives had their phones off on Thursday and learned what happened from the security guards already present at every synagogue. Their presence has long been normal and necessary.

Had a few other equally bizarre and cerebral ones around that time

I’ve seen a worse one! At one point I started getting captchas asking which image looked most cold, and half the images were cartoons and not photos

Also, unfortunately the need for constant security is nothing new. It’s been completely normal since childhood, sadly.

There was some work being done on a policy designer JD at one point, although I don’t know if that’s ongoing. Andy Knight is probably the person to ask but he’s not on Bluesky.

And most of those were lucky guesses

Sadly that makes no difference to the Stagecoach bus app which I use a lot. I’ve also tried adding it in ‘Per-app’ settings and turning reduced motion on just for that, but no dice.

Splash screens on mobile phone apps. I wish it was possible to disable animations (hoping there’s an iPhone setting I just haven’t found yet). My current workaround is to close my eyes while opening the apps that have them.
