A screenshot of a news article from the verge. It reads “With Gemini, Williams says, you can just give the details of the message and a tone. Maybe you're running late, so you say, "Tell my spouse I'm 15 minutes late and send it in a jokey tone." Instead of having to think of what to say, the bot will write it for you.”

the argument that AI in the context of art is “just a tool” completely elides the fact that the point of art is to participate in the fucking process of making it

I think really the story of the past ten years was people taking for granted 21st century liberalism was locked in and therefore you could just kinda be fashy for a laugh only to realize a moment too late Skinhead Steve wasn’t joking after all.

Someone on here said that videogames offer a fantasy of predictable rewards for one's work, which in real life might not be rewarded at all. I think about it a lot!

I kinda think the way people use ChatGPT is sort of aspirational because it seems to emulate the way rich people have sycophants lying to them all the time until they lose touch with reality and also their entire minds

Mamdani: I would say that for the former governor to have spent an entire day speaking almost exclusively about me and barely about the New Yorkers who have been killed is indicative of the very politics New Yorkers want to leave in the past.

This Labour government has failed. People want real transformative politics – we will give it to them | Jeremy Corbyn More than 500,000 people have signed up to our new party to help build a genuine alternative to poverty, inequality and war, says former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn

For too long, people have been denied a real political choice.

Not anymore.

Every world leader who sat on their ass and called it a war is now calling it a famine because they see what's coming next and don't want to be culpable. The kind of heroic leadership that lands you in the Hague.

Star Trek Voyager scene. Tom Paris lays on a sick bay bed, with his head on the lil' bed pillow. He's looking up and screaming out. He has a desperate and fearful look in his eyes. His skin is suffering from some gross abnormalities, with veins quite visibly popping out along the side of his face and neck. It's a little big gross. Closed caption reads, "God, I'd love a pepperoni pizza"

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.
