“O ya no entiendo lo que está pasando o ya pasó lo que estaba yo entendiendo” es ya una cita clásica de #Monsiváis. La mordaz lucidez con que iluminó su tiempo es más vigente que nunca. A 15 años de su partida, recordamos al escritor y pensador del México de todos los tiempos. 📚

Pie chart titled: “The Trump administration is gutting U.S. public health infrastructure, reducing HHS staff by 20,000; Approximate HHS staff reductions by "Fork in the Road" initiative and division”
Trump & Elon Musk's DOGE are gutting our national public health infrastructure in real time, setting the stage for the next public health crisis.
Dismantling our public health institutions is part of Trump's plan to favor corporations & employers over working people.

Screenshot from my backup ForeignAssistance dot gov site, with links to different USAID datasets
Screenshot from a live map that uses data from the backup API
Screenshot of foreign aid by country
The data at USAID's ForeignAssistance dot gov was removed over the weekend, but it seems to be back (for now). As a backup, I've uploaded the data both as static CSV files and a queryable API

CDC Purging Its Website After Trump Orders
Agency removed certain pages related to gender issues, HIV, and that said 'pregnant people'
"The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also, health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down."

To me it is wild that datasets already collected and published go offline 👇

I just talked to my mom, who has been doing work with migrants and deportees in Tijuana for 20 years. The situation has never been worse. It’s very very bleak.
