Since Trump fired everyone ahead of hurricane season, we figured he needed help delivering this message so we showed up at FEMA HQ to help out.

Just an appreciation post for Jacob being on the scene. In the absence of this reporting it would have been he-said/she-said. The sheriffs attacked peaceful protestors including kids with flashbangs, tear gas, and rubber bullets. We need more peaceful protest and more documentation on the ground.

This is serious, rigorous analysis and it should change the way the media has been covering these protests. These were, in the aggregate, *massive.*

The #BillionaireTaxScam β€” Trump's "big, beautiful bill" β€” would be catastrophic for our planet and communities and ruin millions of lives.

We must defeat this extreme bill.

The Coming Democratic Civil War A seemingly wonky debate about the β€œabundance agenda” is really about power.

Is there a β€œTeam Abundance, With a Few Minor Caveats re: Less Being More Sometimes (ala energy efficiency, etc)”? That’s me, Team AWFMCLBMS. πŸ˜€ Because yes, we desperately need more housing, transit and clean energy built much faster than the current systems allow.

The Executive possesses enormous powers to prosecute and to deport, but with
powers come restraints. If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due
process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will
not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home?βˆ— And
what assurance shall there be that the Executive will not train its broad discretionary
powers upon its political enemies? The threat, even if not the actuality, would always be
present, and the Executive’s obligation to β€œtake Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”
would lose its meaning. U.S. CONST . art. II, Β§ 3; see also id. art. II, Β§ 1, cl. 8.
Today, both the United States and the El Salvadoran governments disclaim any
authority and/or responsibility to return Abrego Garcia. See President Trump Participates
in a Bilateral Meeting with the President of El Salvador, W HITE H OUSE (Apr. 14, 2025).
We are told that neither government has the power to act. The result will be to leave matters
generally and Abrego Garcia specifically in an interminable limbo without recourse to law
of any sort.

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

Speaking out and showing up, via @indivisible.org, @moveon.org and others is a far better way to force Ds to take a stand, vs waiting for those Ds to stand up on their own. Speaking up todayβ€”even if you’re not sure your voice is being heardβ€”is better than waiting for elected Ds to speak up tomorrow.
