Quick PSA: If you are planning a trip to Fairbanks this upcoming aurora season, the extra hours of darkness in Dec-Jan likely won't help you. In Fairbanks under quiet conditions, auroras usually don't start to appear until 9-10 pm.

I think this is inherently challenging due to the absolute mountain of caveats that goes into doing this properly.
