Hello running/cycling/triathlon Bluesky. I’m replacing my wahoo heart rate monitor because it goes through batteries like water. I’m debating between a polar and a garmin. Internet reviews are mixed. Does anyone have a strong opinion? I’m would love to be convinced

Cycling only - my Garmin seems to last about a year. I do unsnap the sensor when storing the unit. I have no evidence of passive discharge but just a precaution. One thing, the four screws holding it together are TINY.

Our paths make no separation between cyclists and foot traffic.

Totally agree for the most part. My concern (and I’ve enjoyed paceline riding in the low 20mph range- I’m 75+) is a line of 5-6 negotiating around hikers, leashed pets, children etc. on a two lane path at any speed. A dedicated bike lane would be nice.

I would add a 12-15mph speed limit and no pavements, from my experience in Western Ma. as both a hiker and cyclist in the MCRT. Faster and lines belong on the road. IMHO

It's like the sophon in Three Body Problem - extends into 9 dimensions :-). Seriously, I think your tent designer developed our cat's travel enclosure for car trips. It literally sprung itself into shape from the bag but there was no way to get it back into the bag (the enclosure, not the cat). :-)
