What's an added frustration as a big JRRT fan is while his works may have tons of race essentialism, he spent most of his life being a very decent spouse, father, artist, scholar, writer, and friend. (Non-expert) They definitely can get census data about the income levels of residents of the area around a franchise- they probably do such research prior to establishing one. They could be basing this on sales at at low income and high income franchises even without tracking people.
