I'm done entertaining the notion that the most successful Super Bowl halftime show of all time should have been in English, and you should be, too.

Nothing good comes from treating these liars like their opinions have merit and are worthy of addressing.

Are they? Maybe, but I think right now they're projected for fewer wins than they were to start last year?

Anyways, don't go chasing perfect roster optimization. It's an impossible goal and chasing it too hard is gonna end up cutting short your upside too.

People say this all the time but this is legitimately the kind of thing the parents and grandparents of people I know said when they were seriously suffering from dementia. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Him or someone else like him, sure.

But we did this dance last year, they didn't do it and we wrung our hands and it turned out to be for nothing.

I'm loathe to repeat that pointless mistake.

We podcasted with me in the car because my home is a construction zone and I somehow got my 4 year old to take a post-school nap after filing 3 stories while solo parenting. This is my proudest accomplishment of 2026. Yes, I am bragging about this.

When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.

Bad Bunny is a few months younger than Elian Gonzalez, so I'm sure he would have cried at how scary it was?

God damn are these people stupid.

Long term, this is almost certainly going to end up being a case of the #Brewers selling high on a guy who was better than he is likely to be most years going forward in order to add a couple of potential impact arms. And Hamilton is going to be quite useful in the ST as well.

09.02.2026 21:36 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm really proud of #Brewers fans today for (mostly) not freaking out about the team taking on some short term uncertainty at 3B in order to add a couple of potential impact arms to the pitching stable.

I know the IF depth chart is a little unsettled ATM, but it's the area of organization strength.

I'm hoping that Wilken just slipped his mind amidst all those other names. That seems most likely?

09.02.2026 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm probably (definitely) reading too much into this, but I find his name checking 5 different prospects (including Luke Adams) as possible left side of the IF solutions but not mentioning Wilken to be interesting.

My understanding is that NFL playoff and especially superbowl ratings don't track nearly as much by market size as the NBA or MLB and the NBA Playoff ratings are more about star power than market size.

MLB has the issue that people are less invested in teams they don't root for than other sports.

09.02.2026 20:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Payroll dollars spent seems to have an outsized impact in the MLB postseason, especially compared with it's impact in the regular season.

Not exactly sure why this is, but the reality is that MLB has ZERO incentive to change this because big markets in CS/WS = bigger ratings = bigger TV deals.

09.02.2026 19:59 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

People want market to not matter in baseball the way they percieve that it doesn't matter in football. That part is debatable, but I think the core problem is actually that it's impossible to make market matter as little as it does in football because 162 >>>> 17. It's just a different product.

09.02.2026 19:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 1

Yeah that’s almost surely what’s going on here.

09.02.2026 17:08 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Shit, I had that backwards in my head. Where the hell did I get the idea that he was left handed?

09.02.2026 15:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

SP have to have the stuff to get both RHB and LHB out or they get shuffled to the bullpen anyways. If they can do that, they can start. If they’re significantly better against one side than the other, it makes them vulnerable to being platooned against anyways, right?

09.02.2026 15:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1) Jett is basically a more talented version of Durbin. One who is actually fast, makes more consistent hard contact and hits lefty.
2) I thought so too, guess they don’t see the need for a placeholder?
3) How many arms do you need?

The answer is always β€œmore, more, more”

09.02.2026 15:30 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

He did have a better rookie year than Horton. They don’t give out ROY votes based on long term prospect status, they give them based on production. Durbin was better. Deal with it.

09.02.2026 15:23 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Not a believer in needing to balance your rotation handedness. Why does it matter?

09.02.2026 15:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Would be stunned. Turang doesn’t have the arm for SS and Ortiz is the best MI of the bunch by miles.

09.02.2026 15:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

1) They have Jett Williams and David Hamilton to cover for the losses.
2) They are crazy loaded on the farm with talented IF, with a number of those guys set to start in AAA
3) I will never, ever doubt this org when they go out and target pitchers they like and obviously think they can improve.

09.02.2026 15:16 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Also, I think Jett Williams might just be a better version of Caleb Durbin anyways, one who is actually fast, can hit the ball a bit harder and is left handed. Just gotta hope he takes to 3B as well as Durbin did last year.

09.02.2026 15:10 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

I was never expecting Durbin to be the long term starter at 3B, but I definitely didn’t think they’d be moving him off the roster this fast. Maybe they figured they’d just gotten his best season, have tons of young IF and really liked those arms?

09.02.2026 15:07 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s still mostly the same roster. With the exception of Freddy, all the other roster moves have come more from the fringes of the roster rather than the core.

09.02.2026 15:04 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, I guess the #Brewers must really like Williams to play 3B? With Wilken and Fischer coming up behind I guess why not?
