Land and water conservation projects in limbo by Trump administration, outdoor advocates say Federal land conservation projects around southern Idaho’s rivers and lakes, famous for rainbow trout and smallmouth bass, are in limbo along with dozens of conservation projects nationwide, according to advocates, who worry they may not be completed by President Donald Trump's administration this year.

"[U]nlike many other government actions funded through taxpayer dollars, the purchases made by the LWCF are paid with revenue from offshore oil and gas leases. A portion...is meant to increase hunting, fishing, and wildlife observation opportunities."

Robbing the LWCF Would Hurt America's Public Lands. Maybe That's the Point By diverting money from the successful Land and Water Conservation fund, the Trump Administration is intentionally dismantling the federal lands system.

The LWCF is one of our greatest conservation tools, and one the Trump administration made permanent though the Great American Outdoors Act. We must protect this critical program so it can continue benefitting communities for generations to come.

Rescinding the Roadless Rule "is short-sighted. It rolls back decades of protections for healthy habitats and recreation access that have defined Montana’s outdoor experience, and which are a major draw to visitors supporting our state’s recreation economy."

Public lands are the heart of our communities in the West, which is why lawmakers across the political spectrum are standing up to defend our precious public lands from misguided attempts to sell them off.

On Monday, a coalition of several Tribes and the Native American Rights Fund filed a motion to intervene in ongoing litigation over the legal validity of the declaration of Chuckwalla National Monument "to protect and defend their interests in the monument."

The Land and Water Conservation Fund has provided funding for local parks, open spaces, and outdoor recreation sites for decades. But the Trump Administration recently began diverting funds away from this critical conservation tool. We need Congress to protect our lands & #SaveLWCF!
