Similar. I have one good GP whose known me for 30 years. We just get stuck as we can’t refer to UCLH anymore. They’re the only ones who’ve never caused issues. Local physio and hand therapy (particularly hand therapy) is diabolical.

Too many clinicians are absolutely pants. When you find a good one, they’re like a shining star. I’m under a good’un at the moment for my teeth.

I’ll be keeping my fingers (gently) crossed for you. Impossible to manage that level of pain.

Last year our t’ai chi instructor gave the class aloe vera ‘pups’ from his old plant. Everyone killed theirs, apart from me. Mine’s taken over the house. I’ve potted up 10 more ‘pups’ from it and the class are getting another one each for Christmas. Whether they like it or not!

Yup. I live in a London Borough and our bus network is unbelievable. 5 routes stop at the top of my road and they are regular,reliable and clean (most are new, electric).

Son just came downstairs with the the same story and in a quite self-congratulatory mood as he’s building a new pc and pre-bought the RAM.

This discussion around mental health diagnosis is grinding my gears. The problem is constantly placed wholly within the person. What about the context? What has happened within society?

I’m waiting for my haircut and I’m going to have to stop listening to WATO on radio 4. Ableism abounds and is making me feel queasy. ‘The language of psychiatry has escaped psychiatry.’ Good. Knowledge is power.

Maybe they should also look at the increasing intolerance of anything or anyone ‘different’ within society. The word ‘inclusion’ is bandied around, but there doesn’t seem to be much of it about. If someone’s struggling with lack of reasonable adjustments, they objectively need that diagnosis.

I feel like Mr Benn this morning. Editing 11 screencasts for work, originally made over 7 days. Amazing how hairstyles, outfits and make-up differs from day to day. I guess I like variety!

I have MS, and I need to find shoes with VERY VERY SOFT soles, even more than for diabetic neuropathy! Does anyone know of such shoes (thermally insulated too)?

We have a ‘thing’ (not unrelated to a family of hypermobile hands/fingers) where we all use gifts bags. We don’t write the labels (sticky notes inside where needed). Then they get reused until they basically fall apart.

Really interesting thread. It’s something I’ve worked with students around study habits. A good song on repeat/repeating sounds to help make a familiar and pleasant environment to work in.

On the nose. Thank you for articulating it so well. I’m 57 and was diagnosed with hypermobile EDS at 45. Yes, I have arthritis in various bits and pieces (and am mid another root canal!) but am mostly living well with it these days. I wish you well as you’re working through what it all means.

Oof. I'm hypermobile, my kids are hypermobile, we come from a long line of hypermobile people. The more I read about the many associated, but often vague, symptoms, the more I realise how many hEDS boxes I tick. Oh, and the lack of medical interest in any of it, least of all joining the dots

Oh that takes me back! Yup, literally glowing. I can’t take anything hormonal or herbal/soy etc. (high risk family for breast cancer). I’m learning to go with it. Most of the time. 🫣
