Welp. I disassociated and now it’s June. I’ll share some photos and comics from April & May in a way to not feel bad about suddenly realizing half the year disappeared.

April was a lot of Texas travel. One of the trips was for the College Station, to the Gulf Coast Core Repository (GCR).

1: Helena and her mother are eating dinner. Helena is sheepishly asking „Um…Mom? Did you get a call from school today?“ „No“ 2: Helena yells out „Oh, okay! Good! Uh, no reason!“ while her mother keeps eating dinner. 3: Helena looks at her mother in slight disbelief, almost knowing something’s coming. Mom is still eating dinner. 4: While eating dinner, Mom says „Just pay better attention in class“. „How did you know???“

More Japan photos (after IODP 405)

1 - Before we docked. We ended up sitting near Shimizu for a day.
2 - Our welcome party included the town mascot (which was a seal, I think)
3 - Kamakura! I will go back one day (to take reference photos, collect the temple stamps, and also go to Enoshima)

I forgot to make one of these. Almost a month late, but here is my 2024 Art vs Artist thing (along with the last two years)

I like making these because it gives me an excuse to sit down and figure out what I did the year before (and what I enjoyed illustrating).

2- The art installation we saw at Ginza Six by Kenji Yanobe. It's called "Big Cat Bang".

3- The Urasawa drawing in question. Touching something Urasawa physically touched grants you drawing superpowers, right? (Right?!)

Some more memories from last month:

1- After coming back to land and separating from friends, I did a day trip to Kawagoe and visited some temples.

2- This was the entrance of the Ten’nenji Temple (1554).

3-The long flight back was dark, but... Houston-to-Austin connection had pretty skies.

1- Pre-Japan, I was practicing lead climbing and belaying (and short-roping Jonathan)

3- Crux South closed this week. We climbed there for the last time on the 28th. It was sad to leave.

This is Shigako Nigi from the Kochi Core Center, one of the three core repositories for the IODP. Shigako and her team have been working diligently on Chikyu to archive the precious core samples we have collected during Expedition 405 (JTRACK) for future researchers.
