Only 29% would back Brexit now β€” poll suggests tables have turned We asked Britain about Europe, China and their least favourite world leaders, but one answer stands out

It is such a strange situation that less than a third of people in the UK now say they would vote for Brexit and half want a 2nd referendum on rejoining...

...and yet this Labour government under Keir Starmer keeps hugging Brexit close.

An eight-point plan to free Europe from American dominance A world where Europeans don't have to call Trump "daddy" is possible, but it requires urgent and confident action. Here's how we get there.

I disagree that Europe had 'no other choice' but to sign the πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ surrender deals with Trump.

But even if this were true, how can Europeans be content with such a situation?

This continent needs an independence revolution. Here's how to get there:

Opinion | Kasparov and Landsbergis: Europe’s Future Depends on Confrontation, Not Compromise To survive, the European Union needs to change.

It's time for a European revolution. Our Atlanticist leaders have driven us into a ditch

"What we're witnessing is a sunset of Europe, the decline of a union founded on principles of peace & diplomacy that can no longer effectively respond to the moment" write Gary Kasparov & Gabrielius Landsbergis

Wild. If Spain used the same electoral system as the US to elect its leader, there would be a permanent conservative majority.

BTW I am expanding on these ideas for how to release America's hold over Europe in a book I'm currently writing, publication expected in October.

I should have some more news on this to share later this month.

Indeed the Union *is* the member states.

The EU itself is neither good nor bad, it is whatever the people of Europe choose it to be within the confines of its democratic structure.

It's clear that structure isn't working. But it's also clear that the EU is the only way give Europeans sovereignty.

I don't think the European political class has fully grasped how much credibility the EU has lost with pro-Europeans over the past year.

The constant gaslighting by our leaders on the subjects of Trump and Israel are making it very difficult for people like myself to keep defending the union.

Kings, Jacks and Jokers How the nationalist lie is robbing Europe of its cards

Europe doesn't have the cards. National leaders are to blame. They keep Europe small, so they can feel big. Intra-EU barriers in the single market cost us more than Trump's tariffs. Europe's weakness is not unavoidable, it is a choice. My blog on πŸ‘‰ open.substack.com/pub/sophiein...

Europe's surrender summer Those defending the EU's "trade deal" with Trump are missing the forest for the trees. Whether or not the EU can actually make the payments promised, von der Leyen has cemented subservience.

First came the UK's surrender deal in May.

Then came NATO's "daddy" grovelling in June.

Now we have the EU's consent to vassalage in July.

I shudder to think what's next in August.

My take on the decades of sovereignty progress erased in just 6 months:

Behind the crowing, this is not a proud day for Europe NATO's Rutte today called Trump a "daddy" who had rightly scolded this naughty continent into spending more money on US military equipment. The European Trump response reaches new pathetic depths.

Perhaps the most enraging thing about Europe's Surrender Summer is that each time our leaders have sold their citizens down the river to appease their American masters, they've then turned around and gaslit us saying it's a great thing for Europe.

Spending 5 per cent on defence doesn’t make Nato stronger An arbitrary target won’t enhance members’ capabilities or co-ordination and encourages creative accounting

Through their EU and NATO capitulations, Europeans are only further entrenching their dependence on America.

Buying more πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έweapons in a US-controlled framework does not make Europe safer. Nor does locking in πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έfossil fuel purchases and endorsing US illegal tariffs.

We are moving backwards.

The EU has surrendered President von der Leyen is following the UK in caving in to Trump's extortion, undermining the EU's raison d'Γͺtre and destroying the WTO.

From NATO's "daddy" grovelling in The Hague to the EU's 'peace in our time' capitulation in Turnberry, this has been Europe's Surrender Summer.

We will enter Autumn in a submissive posture thanks to our leaders' betrayal of their citizens. Is it still possible to flip around?

It is very disturbing that many are justifying the EU's trade war surrender to Trump by saying: 'we have to do it otherwise the US won't defend Ukraine'

Will EU citizens accept being US vassals in order to stop Ukraine becoming a Russian vassal?

In fact it seems to me that the people resolutely defending von der Leyen right now and deluding themselves into thinking the EU is playing chess while Trump is playing checkers are remainers in the UK.

The EU does bad things sometimes. This is one of those times.

I suggest you look into this a bit more. Not everything is black and white, two things can be true. The EU has both surrendered *and* this is not the trade deal that the Trump administration is pretending it is.

There is a reason that the Brussels bubble is aghast at this.

A new low: Turnberry spells the end time for the EU’s common commercial policy - Euractiv With this agreement, the EU now condones the USA’s WTO-illegal behaviour. It’s very sad to see the EU so helpless. Pragmatism should have had its limits.

This is a good explainer of why what the EU has done has destroyed the global rules-based trade order and locked it into servitude:

What was agreed wasn't a deal, it was a unilateral surrender. The EU agreed to accept the 15% tariffs and not object to them at the WTO, and they agreed to extortionate demand to pay billions in energy and weapons.

Whatever the details end up being, the Europeans surrendered.

I've seen a lot of cope from people saying the EU is playing chess while Trump is playing checkers because tariffs will hurt the importer's consumers more than the exporter's.

But the issue is that the EU has just legitimised illegal tariffs.
