Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Tämä Hegseth/Trump hulluus ei luultavimmin näy niiden USA sotilaiden käyttäytymisessä jotka tulevat Suomeen harjoittelemaan 2025, mutta entäs 2027?

Itse odotan että se kuuluisa kulttuuri (siis nykyinen) syö (uuden) ”strategian” aamiaiseksi, mutta muutokset voivat kyllä näkyä täälläkin.

Lisään: Puolustusministeri Hegseth myös oli mm sitä mieltä että voimankäyttösäännöt on vähän nössöilyä… siis ne joiden tarkoitus on (a) estää eskalaatiot ja (b) varmistaa että mm sodankäynnin sääntöpohjaa noudatetaan.

The thing is, there are actually GOOD parts of this speech, things that should be done / not done, to ensure that if there's a peer war the US is involved in, then the US military is ready... but the presentation and occasional (ok, many) glib-wall quote stuff makes it cringeworthy to watch.

Do I agree that the primary mission of a military/defence forces is to prepare for and if necessary fight a war? Yes

Do I think it's necessary to prepare for real? Yes

Do I think modern wars are won by a combination of troops and units - not just frontline grunts? Yes

I was going to live comment on the Hegseth & Trump speeches to 100s of general/flag officers, but well... based on basically every interaction with US solderis from cocktails, to work meetings to exercises or talked with "over there", they would largely find this "awkward"
