There might be more interest in film remakes if we call them covers:

Wes Anderson covers "The Three Amigos"
Ryan Coogler covers "Night of the Living Dead"
Kevin Smith covers "My Dinner with Andre"
Taika Waititi covers "Smokey and the Bandit"
Tim Burton covers "A Clock Work Orange"

Doing an ADDitude Webinar on Teenage boys at the end of the month. They opened it up to readers for questions and sent me the file.

There's 840 of them. 😳

I guess it's a topic people care about!

Now I just have to consolidate as many of them as I can. πŸ€ͺ

Talking to a client who had lost their job, I advised them to register a "Doing Business As" as a consultant to avoid a resume gap(s) in case it takes them a while to get a new job.

Thanks! Yeah it's working so far. Having to move the screen means I don't play unless I really want to and have time.

To celebrate the book deal, I got myself a PS5 to play Baldur's Gate 3. But I left it in a room without a screen. So I have to move my computer screen to play it and bring the screen back to my office to do my work. That friction keeps me from getting too caught up in video game nonsense.

America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.

For the record, I am deeply troubled by RFK Jr's approach to Autism. I'm just fried out on social media at the moment. So I'm working to make the world a better place in ways that aren't online at the moment.

I never trust an automated system to do something that would be problematic if it goes wrong (like filling prescription.) I will always talk to a person. And if it's REALLY important (like filling a prescription), I'll go there in person.

Yeah. I'm not discounting the differences. I recognize that some of the advice that lands as narcissistic to me is good advice if you're protecting yourself from toxic people. But the advice changes when it's applied offensively rather than defensively.

Not making you better doesn't mean they have to actively make your life worse. There's a LOT of space between those two.

I have tons of friends whose company I enjoy, but are not actively making me better at anything. I just like hanging out with them.

The whole, "Anyone who doesn't make you better should be cut out of your life" advice is pretty gross.

Gossip Isn't All Badβ€”Here's How to Do It in a Healthy Way, According to Experts The trio of friends from this season of "The White Lotus" may make gossiping look bad, but research suggests it can be a valuable social tool. Experts explain how to spill the tea in a healthy way.

Positive gossip serves the good of the group rather than the gossiper's goals. Talking about a co-worker's dishonesty or an unsafe individual is beneficial.

Negative gossip (spreading rumors, false accusations, or dissing someone) harms our collective well-being.

An issue I have with chunk of the mental health/self-help stuff I see online is that much of it seems to encourage narcissism. Some of it is overt, and some is just about setting healthy boundaries, but it's easy to overcompensate, and there's usually little to no nuance provided by the creator.

We often look at the gap between where we are and where we want to be rather than the growth between where we were and where we are. We should look at both. They both matter.
