all of the calls for "moderating on trans issues" are just an excuse to launder the author's own bigotry into the political sphere

do the right thing and tell them to go to hell, support trans rights

All of republican governance in our lifetime has now devolved to angry white men incoherently screechingβ€”in the halls of power and online alikeβ€”that nothing is working and they demand democrats put it back together in the exact way that republicans want or else they’ll start killing more people

β€œYou say you will be a β€˜good mayor’ and yet you have yet to suggest reintroducing corporal punishment to the classroom. Interesting.”

if the argument from the "dems should be more moderate" crowd boils down to "dems should take positions that are popular with the median voter" (setting aside problems with this), then they should be criticizing golden for not doing that, not trying to blame his retirement on progressive organizing

Mamdani embodies a pro-Palestinian politics that truly distinguishes between the state of Israel and the Jewish people, and truly takes antisemitism seriously as its own problem. That makes him a threat to those who want to absolutely conflate antisemitism and anti-Zionism, whether the ADL or WoL.

I mean, I think a lot of people *are* like that, it's just that you don't hear stories from them on social media as a result of that attitude

I think you do see more positive coverage of AI there than in other places, but that's maybe to be expected of a tech outlet. They've also reported on the economic bubble, the various societal effects, the people pushing AI.

I don't feel like they're doing AI evangelism. I've read a good amount of their recent articles about AI, and I think they're doing a pretty good job of reporting on AI without favor or prejudice.

One funny thing about having adopted the moniker "Cosmological" is that sometimes I will be tagged in posts about cosmology, a subject I am not knowledgeable about.

Talking about the weather is great! It's a thing you immediately have in common with someone in your vicinity, you can easily mutually complain about or appreciate, and serves as an easy springboard into talking about other things, like your planned activities

INTERESTING TIMES WITH ROSS DOUTHAT Mamdani's Victory Is Less Significant Than You Think

we can chalk it up to youth and inexperience but the biggest mistake the mamdani campaign made was winning by 8.8% and not 1.5%, which is the margin needed for the media to say it’s a total mandate

The democratic socialist future of America will require millions of Leslie Knopes doing the thankless work of the bureaucracy required to provide services to the people. If you think people like her are "neoliberal shills," you're not really a democratic socialist, you're just a cosplayer.

Neither would be compelling evidence in relation to any question that isn't trivial or nearly so

Yeah, there's a world of difference if you're the one making the query, but is a *screenshot* of one or the other that different? It's the results of someone's quick, bare-minimum attempt to find the answer to a question. An answer that, in either case, will be somewhat dubious

05.11.2025 23:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

See, the far right will never really be able to succeed at dismantling everything they hate about America because they've *already lost*. We are *already* a multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-cultural society, and they cannot possibly gather the strength to undo that.
