Alberta Premier Danielle Smith asked the Trump/MAGA regime (who are currently attacking Canada) to time their attacks in order to influence the Canadian Federal Election and benefit Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party?
In an economic and sovereignty crisis?
Just watched this! Excellent video and a good breakdown of how to buy Canada.
23.03.2025 15:37 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The racial wealth gap is the largest of the economic disparities between Black and white Americans, with a white-to-Black per capita wealth ratio of 6 to 1. It is also among the most persistent. In this article, we construct the first continuous series on white-to-Black per capita wealth ratios from 1860 to 2020, drawing on historical census data, early state tax records, and historical waves of the Survey of Consumer Finances, among other sources. Incorporating these data into a parsimonious model of wealth accumulation for each racial group, we document the role played by initial conditions, income growth, savings behavior, and capital returns in the evolution of the gap. Given vastly different starting conditions under slavery, racial wealth convergence would remain a distant scenario, even if wealth-accumulating conditions had been equal across the two groups since Emancipation. Relative to this equal-conditions benchmark, we find that observed convergence has followed an even slower path over the past 150 years, with convergence stalling after 1950. Since the 1980s, the wealth gap has widened again as capital gains have predominantly benefited white households, and convergence via income growth and savings has come to a halt
TLDR: The paper I'm teaching tomorrow finds that the shadow of enslavement is SO LONG that there's NO level of saving, education, capital gains, wealth tax, or income redistribution that closes the racial wealth gap.
Only one thing closes the gap: REPARATIONS.

Y'all pick a lane. Then make a little progress in your lane each day.
Every serious, experienced organizer I know is Doing Their Thing. Instead of freaking out about each bit of bad news, we're in our lanes rapidly building dual power infrastructure and networks that don't rely on the goverment.
If America thinks tariffs will crush the resolve of Canadians β theyβre wrong.
We will not roll over.
BC is stepping up to do our part by:
β Pulling US liquor off shelves
β Excluding US products from government purchases
We definitely need more of this.

Everyone can contribute to social movements.
Everyone can do something, from somewhere.
None of this is about "professionalism" or policy"expertise. That is counterinsurgency, demobilizing logic.
Everyone can organize and has something to offer.
Hereβs one easy trick to combat foreign interference in our media: Ottawa should enforce the law limiting foreign ownership of newspapers.
We are in effect paying foreign-owned media, like the National Post, to feed us propaganda.

In recent decades, shock tactics were used mainly to rapidly impose neoliberal economic policies. But what Trump is doing goes way beyond that.
