In the paper, we first present an overview of different characteristics of futures, such as spatial contingency, social construction of time and possibility. We then develop the notion of diverse futures on the basis of a flat ontology.

In this paper we develop the notion of diverse future-making. With this notion we want to uncover the different ways and places in which futures are imagined. However, we observe that they are often not taken into account in current discourses on sustainability transitions.
