Dr. Kalbasi’s lab studies how cytokines influence T cell behavior and function. His team aims to design smarter immunotherapies for patients with sarcoma and other solid tumors using high-throughput screens and new computational tools. Congratulations, Dr. Kalbasi!

We are thrilled to share that Anusha Kalbasi, MD, Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, was named a member of the 2025 Cancer Research Institute class of Lloyd J. Old STARs! Each of the five awardees will receive $1.25 million in unrestricted funding over five years.

Her project, “Targeting SPP1 in the TME as a therapeutic strategy to chemosensitize ovarian tumors,” aims to improve response to therapy and increase overall survival by investigating the tumor microenvironment.
