This basically just says they weighted the results based on census data. It doesn't say what the actual samples were. They could be weighting the like 5 young people they could get and saying it's representative of the 18-25 block because they weighted with census data.

I mean for one, this was hardly random. For two, this is a CBS poll, likely using cold calling as it's main way of gathering data.

Cold calling for polls is incredibly outdated and probably mostly skews towards the sentiments of boomers. No one under the age of like 40-45 is doing them.

He does owe his audience. Without them he wouldn't be a millionaire, his writing wouldn't be world famous, and he wouldn't be in the position to spend all this time writing wild cards and helping produce HOTD. All that is because he has an audience that rocketed his career forward.

People bought his books with the implication being that the story would be finished at some point. GRRM has spent the past decade working on everything but the main series. If he doesn't want to actually finish that's fine, but he's basically breaking a promise.

Isn't there an implied promise of finishing a story you created? It's one thing if he doesn't know how to properly wrap things up, but it's another if he just takes the money and drops the project. Would you have the same attitude if someone just stopped building a shed halfway through?

I mean he wouldn't be nearly as wealthy or have the same kind of career opportunities he's had if it wasn't for the success of ASOIAF. If people didn't buy his work, he'd just be another somewhat successful writer. He's a household name because of his fans.
