Has there been any media attempt to understand how much of Mamdani's win was because of his left-wing beliefs/policies vs. the primary "establishment" candidate just being bad? Cuomo resigned in disgrace and seems generally not liked. Maybe that's why he lost?

Kristi Noem requires her personal approval for FEMA to sign a contract over $100k. (Normally this just requires the approval of the contracting officer.) In doing so, she has made herself personally liable for FEMA's slowness in responding to any disaster.

A fun thing about American politics is that more people voted in New York City in a June primary than live in five states that get two senators.

Two things can be true:
1. D establishment is overdue for some bloodletting like this. It will be read as left vs. moderate but much of it will also be old vs. new and conventional tactics vs. new approaches.
2. It's just one race and it's a primary among NYC Ds. Takes getting pretty overheated.
